The Ajit Pawar-led NCP on Thursday demanded legal action against MNS chief Raj Thackeray following the recent attack on NCP Member of Legislative Council Amol Mitkari's car in Akola, Maharashtra.
NCP spokesperson Umesh Patil also attributed responsibility to Thackeray for the death of an MNS worker, Jai Malokar, who succumbed to a cardiac arrest shortly after the vandalism incident. Holding a press conference, Patil claimed that MNS workers attempted to attack Mitkari with weapons but resorted to vandalizing his car when their efforts failed.
In response to the attack, Mitkari led a protest outside the Akola Superintendent of Police office, alleging that the police were failing to act against the accused. The police have so far detained four MNS members in connection with the incident and registered an FIR against 13 MNS workers for various charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
