On Monday, Union ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Kiren Rijiju sharply criticized Rahul Gandhi after he questioned the authority of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla during a debate on the Union Budget.

Vaishnaw pointed to Gandhi's history of disregarding constitutional norms, citing an instance where he tore an ordinance promulgated by his own party's government. Rijiju condemned Gandhi's remarks targeting the Speaker as irresponsible and reminded him that no one is above the Constitution.

Rijiju emphasized that as the leader of the opposition, Gandhi has a significant responsibility to uphold the rules and procedures of the House. He added that Gandhi's conduct was disrupting parliamentary proceedings and undermining democratic values.
