Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara announced on Monday that the police will not grant official permission for the planned BJP-JD(S) foot march, intended to highlight alleged scams by the government. The ruling Congress party has vowed to counter this politically.
BJP State President B Y Vijayendra confirmed that the week-long march from Bengaluru to Mysuru, demanding Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's resignation over alleged corruption, will go ahead despite the lack of police approval. He criticized the government's stance as ineffective and vowed to press on with the protest.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah responded, asserting that the Congress will counter the opposition's march politically rather than through governmental action. He defended his administration against the corruption allegations, pointing to ongoing judicial and CBI probes as evidence of his government's commitment to transparency.
