Eleven newly-elected legislators took their oaths of office as members of the Maharashtra legislative council at the Vidhan Bhavan on Sunday.
The ceremony saw BJP MLCs Pankaja Munde, Parinay Fuke, Yogesh Tilekar, Amit Gorkhe, and Sadabhau Khot, alongside NCP's Rajesh Vitekar and party general secretary Shivajirao Garje, and Shiv Sena's Bhavana Gawali and Krupal Tumane, being sworn in.
Congress's Pradnya Satav and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Milind Narvekar also took their oaths. MLC Gorkhe emphasized his resolve to dispel opposition narratives during the Lok Sabha elections and to unite the Scheduled Castes in Maharashtra. Pankaja Munde expressed her intention to be a voice for the politically marginalized and spoke of unity among OBCs and Marathas.
The ruling Mahayuti alliance of the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP secured nine out of the 11 seats contested in the July 12 elections. The BJP won five seats, while the Shiv Sena and NCP obtained two each. Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress won one seat each, with PWP leader Jayant Patil losing despite NCP (SP) backing.
