Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde lambasted leaders who, despite gaining power with Maratha backing, neglected the community's interests when given the opportunity. His remarks came after NCP-SP head Sharad Pawar voiced worries about community divisions over quota issues.

Shinde rebuked detractors of the state's 'Ladki Bahin' and 'Ladka Bhau' schemes, labeling those obstructing their implementation as 'step-brothers.' He also rejected Pawar's claim that separate promise meetings were held with Maratha and OBC leaders. 'We speak openly,' Shinde asserted, highlighting his administration's affirmative actions, unlike the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government's alleged failures.

Shinde emphasized that his government had successfully allocated reservations to the Maratha community without encroaching on OBC quotas and dared Pawar to maintain a clear, community-benefit-agnostic political stance. He also reassured that the 'Ladki Bahin' and 'Ladka Bhau' schemes would continue despite opposition attempts to sabotage them.
