US Vice President Kamala Harris emphasized Israel's right to defend itself but stressed the importance of its methods, following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Harris highlighted the severe suffering in Gaza, including the death of innocent civilians.

Harris condemned Hamas as a brutal terrorist organization, citing its October 7 attack that killed 1,200 people, including 44 Americans, and resulted in hostage situations. She expressed deep concern about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, affecting over two million people with acute food insecurity.

Calling for a ceasefire and resolution, Harris stated that the ongoing negotiations offer a hopeful pathway to end the war and secure peace and dignity for the Palestinian people.
