Sudan Paramilitary Leader to Join Cease-Fire Talks in Switzerland

Sudan's paramilitary leader, Gen. Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, has revealed plans to participate in cease-fire talks in Switzerland next month, as arranged by the United States and Saudi Arabia.

On social media, Dagalo expressed hope that the talks would pave the way for peace and stability in Sudan, advocating for justice, equality, and federal rule. The discussions are set to start on August 14, involving key international stakeholders as observers.

The US State Department noted that the talks aim to build on previous discussions in Saudi Arabia that had failed last year. They will focus on ceasing nationwide violence, enabling humanitarian aid, and creating a robust monitoring mechanism. Sudan has been in conflict since April 2023, resulting in significant casualties and a large-scale displacement crisis.
