The meeting signifies efforts to ease tensions between the two leaders, following strains over Netanyahu's congratulations to Joe Biden on his 2020 election victory.

This will be their first meeting since Trump's presidency ended, a period during which they developed strong ties. Netanyahu's visit to the U.S. also includes meetings with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to seek renewed Congressional support for Israel's operations in Gaza.
