Mayawati Criticizes Union Budget 2024-25 for Neglecting Marginalized Communities

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati expressed disappointment over the Union Budget 2024-25, claiming it neglects the poor, unemployed, farmers, women, and marginalized communities. She criticized the government's lack of reformist policies necessary for the upliftment of over 125 crore underprivileged sections, urging for basic progress like employment and income opportunities for all.

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Tuesday termed the Union Budget 2024-25 as a disappointment for the poor, unemployed, farmers, women, marginalized, and neglected 'bahujans' of the country. ''The Union Budget presented in Parliament today follows the same old pattern, offering little hope for the country's disadvantaged groups,'' Mayawati stated in a post on X.

Mayawati highlighted that while the country struggles with poverty, unemployment, inflation, and underdevelopment, the central government lacks intentions for upliftment. ''This administration lacks the reformist policies needed for the upliftment of over 125 crore underprivileged people. Can such provisions in the budget make people's lives happy and prosperous?'' she questioned.

She emphasized that national development should not merely be statistical but should translate into tangible benefits like employment and income for expenses. ''The development of railways is also critical. The government should ensure work for every hand, just like the BSP government did,'' she concluded.
