Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor has called for the resignation of Mayor Shelly Oberoi, citing political obstinacy by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as the reason for the halt in essential municipal functions. Kapoor emphasized that the lack of committee formations has stalled vital processes for 19 months.

Due to this administrative deadlock, Kapoor highlighted how public-interest projects are left in limbo, with tenders and approvals not being processed. While the immediate impact on Delhi residents is minimal, Kapoor warned that central municipal areas would soon suffer from unclean streets, and crucial bio-mining activities at landfill sites could cease by mid-August.

Additionally, from July 25, waste collection services in significant areas of Delhi, including Daryaganj, Lodhi Road, and South Ext, will be halted as contracts expire. Kapoor insisted that Mayor Oberoi should secure special funds or resign, accusing her of holding the position illegally and lacking moral authority to continue.
