In a vehement critique of the BJP, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti charged the Uttar Pradesh government's recent directive for eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route to display owners' names, calling it unconstitutional and discriminatory.

Addressing reporters at a party event, Mufti argued that the BJP is undermining the Constitution which enshrines equal rights for all citizens. She stated, "Rahul Gandhi was correct in saying that if BJP secures over 400 seats, they will sabotage the Constitution. They haven't learned their lesson despite their seat count falling from 350 to 240."

Mufti warned that the policy could incite national unrest and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clarify his stance on the issue. She also expressed satisfaction as former legislator Khurshid Alam rejoined the PDP, strengthening the party.
