Nobel laureate economist Professor Amartya Sen has remarked on the significant maturity that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has gained over the years. Sen noted that Gandhi's true challenge will be how he leads the Opposition in Parliament under the Narendra Modi-led NDA government.

Sen also praised Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', saying it has shaped him as a national leader and enriched India's political landscape. In an exclusive interview with PTI at his ancestral home in Bolpur, West Bengal, Sen reminisced about a young, uncertain Gandhi during his days at Trinity College, Cambridge.

'I think Rahul is a much more mature person now,' Sen observed, recounting Gandhi's early lack of clarity about his career. While acknowledging the difficulties Gandhi faced in his initial political days, Sen commended his recent extraordinary performance. He admired Gandhi's improved articulation in politics, crediting it to his rootedness in India's political complexities. Concluding, Sen emphasized Gandhi's role in addressing India's pressing issues of inequality and sectarianism.
