A team from the Election Commission of India conducted a crucial meeting with Haryana poll officials on Monday in preparation for the assembly elections later this year. The meeting centered on reviewing preparations related to voter lists, according to an official statement.

Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Nitesh Vyas and Deputy Election Commissioner Hridesh Kumar led the review meeting. They interacted with Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal and all district election officers, focusing on the second special summary revision program of the voter list for 2024.

Vyas stressed the importance of setting up polling stations in urban housing societies, skyscrapers, and slum areas, following ECI guidelines. The district officers were instructed to maintain regular dialogues with political parties, address their concerns promptly, and keep them informed.

The senior officials directed state and district teams to regularly monitor the distribution of voter ID cards and work with post offices to ensure timely delivery. They also emphasized resolving public grievances related to voter registration or ID cards efficiently.

Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal assured that pending voter registration applications would be processed swiftly and that error-free, updated voter lists would be published on time. Special awareness campaigns will be launched to encourage youths, people with disabilities, and women to register as voters.
