Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced on Sunday that BRS legislators are defecting to the ruling Congress party to contribute to Telangana's development. Reddy made this statement at a gathering where safety kits for toddy-tappers were distributed near Hyderabad.
Addressing attendees, Reddy highlighted that the MLAs are rallying behind the Congress government due to threats from BRS and BJP, which claimed the government would soon collapse. He accused the former BRS government of plunging Telangana into a debt of Rs 7 lakh crore, with current monthly repayments amounting to Rs 7,000 crore.
Reddy defended the defections to Congress, explaining that MLAs are inspired by the party's developmental agenda. Since his rise to Chief Minister after the November Assembly polls, nine BRS MLAs, six MLCs, and several senior leaders, including K Keshav Rao and Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi, have switched allegiances to Congress.
