K P Sharma Oli is set to reclaim the position of Nepal's Prime Minister after the current Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', lost a trust vote in Parliament. This defeat comes after Prachanda survived four previous trust votes during his term.
Oli, representing the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML), staked his claim by presenting his case to President Ramchandra Paudel with the backing of 165 lawmakers, including 88 from the Nepali Congress.
Despite the support of fringe parties for a Congress-UML coalition, Oli showed his support solely from UML and Congress. President Paudel has tasked the House members to substantiate their majority by Sunday evening.
