On Friday, the BJP staged a protest in Mysuru against what it claims to be fraudulent land allotments by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), which includes plots allegedly allocated to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife, Parvathi.

The demonstrators demanded the withdrawal of these sites from individuals who received them 'illegally' and called for a CBI probe into what they termed a 'scam,' adding that the Chief Minister should resign in light of the allegations.

Several BJP workers, including prominent leaders like Leader of Opposition R Ashoka and former Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwath Narayan, attempted to lay siege to the MUDA office but were detained and taken away by police.

Ashoka and Ashwath Narayan reportedly entered Mysuru in a goods carrier to evade police and claimed their intention was to expose the alleged scam and seek justice for the people.

Earlier in the day, BJP state president B Y Vijayendra and other BJP leaders were detained near Kengeri in Bengaluru while en route to join the protest, despite resisting police actions.

Vijayendra accused the Congress government of oppression and vowed that BJP protests would continue across the state, including in Mysuru and Bengaluru.

In response, Congress leaders and workers also staged a counter-protest against the BJP in Mysuru.

The controversy centers around compensatory sites allotted to Parvathi in an upscale area, allegedly under MUDA's 50:50 ratio scheme, as compensation for her land acquired for a residential project. Siddaramaiah has denied the allegations, calling them a politically motivated conspiracy.
