Nepal's embattled Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda,' facing a crisis after losing backing from key alliance partners, is poised to seek a vote of confidence from the House of Representatives on July 12, according to official announcements.

In a decisive move, the prime minister has formally requested the Parliament Secretariat to arrange the vote, local media sources disclosed. Invoking Article 100(2) of the Constitution, Dahal opted for the floor test following a split within the ruling coalition.

Despite recent political turbulence, including the resignation of eight Cabinet ministers and a power-sharing agreement between the Nepali Congress and Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist, Dahal remains undeterred in his quest for stability. With support from key factions, he faces a significant challenge to garner the 138 votes required to maintain his leadership in a politically fragile Nepal, which has seen 13 governments in 16 years.
