Pritam Singh, Singapore's Leader of Opposition and of Indian origin, has been re-elected as the secretary-general of the Workers' Party (WP) on Sunday. This marks continuation in leadership for Singh, who has held the position since 2018.

The internal party election also saw Sylvia Lim re-elected as chairwoman, with a total of 14 members being voted into the Central Executive Committee (CEC), WP's principal decision-making body. 'Fantastic result. We're looking forward to working with this CEC for the next two years,' Singh told reporters.

As the WP gears up for the next general election, which could be as early as November this year, Singh is also preparing for his trial in October. He is charged with lying in parliament regarding a former party member's accusation against the police in a sexual assault case.
