In a statement released on Wednesday, MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande clarified that there were no directives from party chief Raj Thackeray regarding voting preferences in the ongoing Maharashtra legislative council polls.
The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, which had extended support to the ruling Mahayuti alliance — comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP — in the recent Lok Sabha elections, is now allowing its members to vote as per individual choice, added Deshpande.
Polling for the legislature council seats in the Mumbai Graduates, Mumbai Teachers, Nashik Teachers, and Konkan Graduates constituencies is taking place, with a notable contest in the Konkan Graduates constituency between BJP's Niranjan Davkhare and Congress's Ramesh Keer.
