In a pointed critique, BSP president Mayawati on Tuesday accused the BJP and Congress of significantly altering the Constitution to serve casteist, communal, and capitalistic interests through numerous amendments.

Speaking at a press conference, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said, "Their thinking also seems to be similar and both of them have made this Constitution a casteist, communal and capitalist Constitution to a large extent through various amendments."

She lamented that the contemporary Constitution no longer embodies the egalitarian and secular principles envisioned by Bhimrao Ambedkar and asserted that the political maneuvers by these parties are inappropriate. Mayawati also highlighted both parties' failure to implement the Mandal Commission's recommendations on OBC reservations.
