"Statement is not based on truth," says BJP leader Madhavi Latha on Rahul Gandhi alleging PM Modi, Shah will attack Constitution

"The entire election has passed by while Rahul Gandhi was saying this. How long does Rahul Gandhi want to hang on to this matter? It has no truth; the statement is not based on the truth at all. In democracy, you go among the people with the truth and fight a simple battle. It is the adult franchise, voting and democracy. You (Rahul Gandhi) tried to make your own issue by taking wrong information among the people. You always take the wrong path," Latha told ANI.

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Madhavi Latha on Monday took a potshot at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of "attacking" the Constitution saying, the statement was not based on truth at all. "The entire election has passed by while Rahul Gandhi was saying this. How long does Rahul Gandhi want to hang on to this matter? It has no truth; the statement is not based on the truth at all. In democracy, you go among the people with the truth and contest a simple election. It is the adult franchise, voting and democracy. You (Rahul Gandhi) tried to make your own issue by taking wrong information among the people. You always take the wrong path," Latha told ANI.

She further said that there was no danger to democracy. Union Minister Amit Shah and PM Modi's thinking was how to protect the youth, women, Dalits and farmers of the country. "What kind of danger is there? There is no danger todemocracy. Amit Shah and PM Modi's thinking is to protect the youth, women, Dalits and farmers of the country. Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar never said to give reservation in the name of religion, these people (Congress) are talking about giving reservation in the name of religion. They had to change the constitution, they had to go against Ambedkar," the BJP leader alleged.

Notably, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were "attacking" the Constitution and said that such attacks were not acceptable by the Opposition INDIA bloc. Opposition leaders, including Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, staged a protest in Parliament premises holding copies of the Constitution in their hands.

"The attack that the PM and Amit Shah are launching on the Constitution is not acceptable to us, we will not let this happen. So, we held the Constitution while taking the oath...Our message is going across, no power can touch the Constitution of India," Rahul Gandhi told reporters ahead of the beginning of the 18th Lok Sabha session today.
