Farmer leader and CPI(M) MP Amra Ram arrived in Parliament on a tractor, making a symbolic entry on the opening day of the 18th Lok Sabha's first session.

Amra Ram, representing Sikar, was halted near the Parliament's gate by the police, who denied him entry with the vehicle. Subsequently, he walked the remaining distance to the Parliament building.

'They did not allow farmers to come to Delhi. For 13 months, farmers were sitting at Delhi's borders, their tractors were not allowed in the city,' Amra Ram told PTI. 'Today, a farmer and his tractor both reached Parliament,' he added, referring to the prolonged protests against the now-repealed farm laws during 2020-21.

Amra Ram, a seasoned politician from the Shekhavati region of Rajasthan, has served as an MLA for four terms and is the vice-president of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS). Running as an INDIA bloc candidate, he triumphed over incumbent BJP MP Sumedhanand Saraswati in the Lok Sabha elections.
