The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has conceded to the demands of its major ally, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), regarding the federal budget and development fund allocation, as per a media report on Sunday.

Earlier in the week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had assured PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari that the government would address the key ally's reservations on various issues by creating a committee, following heightened tensions among the coalition partners over the budget. The agreement was reached in the third round of negotiations between the parties' committees, Geo News reported.

The PPP had raised concerns about not being consulted on the federal budget. "The government will prioritize the PPP in development funds and administrative appointments in Punjab," Geo News quoted sources. The PML-N has accepted the PPP's demands on district administrations, appointment of law officers, representation on boards and authorities, local elections, and equal distribution of development funds. The PPP also requested an additional secretary in the chief minister's secretariat to resolve party-related issues. Where PPP has significant support, appointments of district deputy commissioners, district police officers, and revenue officers will be made in consultation with the party.
