The BJP on Saturday called for the immediate resignation of Tamil Nadu Prohibition and Excise Minister S Muthusamy over a deadly hooch tragedy in the state, alleging that the ruling DMK party is protecting those responsible.
During a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla labeled the incident as a 'state-sponsored murder' and placed full blame on the DMK government. 'So far, 53 individuals, mostly from the Scheduled Castes, have died. Instead of acting on this heinous crime, the DMK continues to shield the perpetrators,' said Poonawalla.
The BJP also requested a CBI investigation into the incident, citing a possible nexus between the liquor mafia and DMK leaders. 'We demand the immediate resignation of Minister Muthusamy for an impartial investigation,' stated Poonawalla, questioning why Chief Minister M K Stalin has not handed the probe to the CBI.
