In a surprising political move, senior YSRCP leader Mudragada Padmanabham has officially changed his name to 'Padmanabha Reddy'. This name change fulfills a bold pledge he made during the election campaign, following his unsuccessful attempt to defeat Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan in the recently concluded Assembly polls.

Kalyan's victory in the Pithapuram Assembly constituency prompted the septuagenarian leader to follow through on his promise. 'Nobody forced me to change my name. I have changed it on my own volition,' Reddy asserted to the media, emphasizing his autonomous decision.

However, Reddy expressed concerns over the backlash he faced from Kalyan's fans, who allegedly abused him online. 'The youth who love you (Kalyan) are incessantly dropping expletive messages. In my view, this is not right. Rather than abusing, do one thing…eliminate us (all family members),' Reddy lamented.

A prominent Kapu community leader and former minister, Reddy has campaigned vigorously for Kapu reservation. He joined YSRCP just months before the elections, adding a notable chapter to his political journey.
