BJP's Manglaur candidate Kartar Singh Bhadana and party's Badrinath nominee Rajendra Bhandari made their bids official on Thursday by filing nominations for the July 10 assembly bypolls in Uttarakhand.

Accompanied by prominent figures including Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Haridwar MP and former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, and state BJP president Mahendra Bhatt, Bhadana asserted confidence in the 'double-engine government' while filing his papers at the Haridwar collectorate. The bypoll for Manglaur became necessary after the death of BSP MLA Sarwat Karim Ansari last October. "I am fully confident that the people of Manglaur are prepared to put their stamp of approval on the welfare policies and unprecedented development carried out by the double-engine government. BJP's victory with a big margin from Manglaur this time is certain," Dhami stated in a post on X.

Meanwhile, ex-MLA Rajendra Bhandari, who recently switched allegiances from Congress to BJP, also filed his nomination for the Badrinath assembly seat in Gopeshwar. He was joined by Cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat and numerous supporters. The Badrinath seat became vacant following Bhandari's resignation from both his party and seat. The final day to submit nominations is Friday.
