Atul Garg, the newly appointed BJP candidate for Ghaziabad, is currently leading by an impressive margin of over 2.66 lakh votes, as per the latest poll trends from the Election Commission.
Garg has garnered more than 6.80 lakh votes so far, significantly ahead of his closest competitor, Congress' Dolly Sharma, who has received 4.13 lakh votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's Nand Kishor Pundir trails with 66,226 votes.
Out of the remaining 11 candidates in Western Uttar Pradesh, none have managed to secure even 2,000 votes as of 4 pm. The NOTA (None of the Above) option has unexpectedly become the fourth most popular choice, with 6,644 votes.
It is noteworthy that Singh, a former Army Chief, had previously won the Ghaziabad seat with margins exceeding 5 lakh votes in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Garg, a sitting MLA from Ghaziabad, was named the BJP candidate on March 24, shortly after Singh announced he would not contest this election cycle.
