Indian Telecom Sector to Boost Workforce: 62% Employers Eye Expansion in H1 FY25

An employment outlook report by TeamLease Services indicates a positive hiring trend in the Indian telecom, ISP, and allied sectors, with 62% of employers planning to expand their workforce in the first half (H1) of the financial year 2025.

The report highlights a moderate net employment growth of 5.62%, driven by significant momentum in broadband expansion and advancements in IoT, AI, and cloud computing. In terms of workforce size trends, 62% of respondents from these sectors intend to increase their personnel, while 17% foresee a reduction. Meanwhile, 21% do not expect any change.

Delhi leads the charge, with 57% of employers expanding their workforce in existing job locations, followed closely by Bengaluru and Chennai at 53% each. Hyderabad and Bhopal are top contenders for new job locations with 20% each, trailed by Bengaluru, Vadodara, and Jaipur at 19% each. Subburathinam P, CSO-Staffing at TeamLease Services, stated that the sector's growth opens doors for specialized roles in ICT, AI, and engineering. The sector's robust expansion is further driven by the Indian government's recent initiatives, including increased customs duty on PCBA to boost domestic manufacturing and efforts to improve 'Ease of Doing Business' with the Jan Vishwas Bill 2.0.
