The Sikkim Assembly on Friday approved the annual budget for the financial year 2025-26, totaling Rs 16,196 crore. The decision was made on the fourth and final day of the budget session, with the approval coming via a voice vote after Speaker M N Sherpa opened it for discussion and passage.
The Sikkim Appropriation Bill of 2025, presented by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang who also holds the Finance portfolio, was a highlight of the session. Alongside the passing of the budget, the House also approved separate demands for sectors including Health and Family Welfare, Agriculture, and Environment.
Speaker M N Sherpa concluded the session by adjourning the House sine die, following the formation of various committees and the presentation of the Comprehensive Audit General (CAG) reports, marking the end of this legislative session.
