The Puducherry territorial Assembly passed the Appropriation Bill for 2025 on Wednesday. Chief Minister N Rangasamy, who manages the finance portfolio, tabled the bill.
During the session, the Chief Minister allocated Rs 13,600 crores from the Union Territory's consolidated fund for the fiscal year 2025-26 after a detailed debate on grants for various departments.
N Rangasamy also announced a merger of the Puducherry and Uzhavarkarai Municipalities to form a Municipal Corporation and declared a pay hike, assuring no worker will earn below Rs 10,000 monthly. A specific increase was highlighted for ASHA and National Rural Health Mission workers.
