The judiciary in India faces a storm of criticism following the transfer of Delhi High Court judge Yashwant Varma to the Allahabad High Court. Bar Association leaders have called it the 'darkest day' for the judiciary and vowed to boycott his swearing-in.

The transfer follows allegations of a substantial amount of cash allegedly discovered at Judge Varma's residence. Despite the Supreme Court Collegium's recommendation and the Law Ministry's notification, the move has ignited protests among Allahabad High Court lawyers, who have already been on strike for days.

Bar Association president Anil Tiwari announced plans for an emergency meeting to decide further actions, emphasizing that the fight against this perceived injustice will continue. The Supreme Court rejected a premature petition demanding a police investigation into the alleged cash discovery, stating that the in-house inquiry is still ongoing.
