The Delhi Assembly took significant action on Thursday by passing a motion to dispose of old cases against senior bureaucrats. These cases have been pending before different House committees during the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) long-standing rule in the city. Many of the cases arose from complaints filed by AAP MLAs over the years.

According to Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, some cases, lingering since 2016, aimed to target Delhi government officers. The previous assembly had already passed resolutions to address these incomplete cases. The aim was to carry forward unresolved committee work to the new assembly under Rule 183.

In a move spearheaded by BJP MLA Abhay Verma, the House, dominated by BJP members, voted to clear these cases from Committees on Privileges, Petitions, and Questions and References. These decisions relate to top officials now working across various states and Union Territories, including former chief secretaries and senior IAS officers.
