Uttar Pradesh Police have successfully dismantled a notorious gang involved in an elaborate marriage scam, officials revealed on Thursday. The gang, accused of luring unmarried men with false promises of matrimony, extorted significant sums of money, exploiting their victims' marriage aspirations.

The operation saw the arrest of four individuals, inclusive of a female member. Their arrests occurred during a brazen attempt to abduct a bride post-payment of Rs 1 lakh for a supposed marriage, part of their fraudulent scheme. Victims in different locales were reportedly conned by this deceptive tactic.

According to Vinay Kumar Sahu, the officer in charge at Kakarwai, the gang targeted Dalchand, 38, from Baramain village, by guaranteeing marriage arrangements for a fee. A wide investigation is in progress to unearth more victims and uncover additional accomplices involved in this widespread conspiracy.
