Nepali Woman Arrested for Kidnapping American Tourist in Pokhara

In a shocking incident, a Nepali woman has been apprehended for kidnapping a 70-year-old American tourist in the popular city of Pokhara for ransom.

The accused, Sarita Lama from Nuwakot district, allegedly targeted the elderly tourist who was visiting Nepal with friends and had traveled to Pokhara for sightseeing and a pilgrimage to Muktinath Temple. Authorities were alerted by the US Embassy after the woman was abducted from her hotel.

The victim was held captive in Makwanpur, with a ransom of 300,000 euros demanded. However, a swift joint operation by various police departments led to her rescue from Hetauda, and the suspect is now in custody, facing charges of kidnapping and unlawful detention.
