Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, on Thursday, addressed demands from lawyers seeking the withdrawal of the recommendation to transfer Delhi High Court Judge Yashwant Varma to the Allahabad High Court.
Representatives from six high court bar associations, including Anil Tiwari, president of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association, met with the CJI and four collegium members to raise several issues, notably concerning the discovery of cash at a judge's residence.
The association has been on strike since March 25, protesting the repatriation of Justice Varma. They argue that incidents like alleged evidence tampering underscore a broader issue of judiciary corruption, calling for systemic changes to ensure transparency and integrity.
