The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has launched a significant enforcement operation against e-commerce giant, Amazon, seizing a sizeable inventory of uncertified goods from one of its warehouses in Shamshabad.

BIS officials confiscated a whopping 2,783 consumer items, including smartwatches, electric water heaters, and other electronic devices, all lacking the required BIS Standard Mark. The market value of these goods exceeds Rs 50 lakhs.

This move underscores stringent regulatory measures as BIS plans to prosecute under the BIS Act, 2016, citing violations of mandatory Quality Control Orders by the Government of India.
