On Wednesday, a convoy of security forces in northwest Pakistan was ambushed by unidentified gunmen, resulting in the deaths of two security personnel and injuries to three others, officials reported. The assault took place in the Daraban area of Dera Ismail Khan district, close to South Waziristan.
Meanwhile, a senior commander of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was neutralized in a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Hangu district. The raid, prompted by intelligence on the presence of militants, led to a gunfight where the TTP commander was killed, but another terrorist managed to escape.
Authorities stated that the deceased militant was implicated in various attacks, notably the killing of policeman Qudratullah. The security forces seized a Kalashnikov rifle, two hand grenades, and an Afghan SIM card from the militant. His death represents a significant setback for the TTP.
