In a significant development, Sudan's army announced the recapture of a strategic camp in Khartoum, previously held by the rival Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group. This move brings the military closer to declaring full control over the capital as operations continue towards key sites, including the airport.
According to army spokesperson Brig. Gen. Nabil Abdullah Ali, the Teiba al-Hasnab camp was the RSF's last bastion in Khartoum. In a statement on Facebook, Sudan's Information Minister Khaled al-Aiser commended the army's efforts and expressed pride in the national forces.
Additionally, reports from Egyptian state broadcaster Al-Qahera News suggest the army has taken control of Khartoum International Airport. The capture of the Republican Palace last Friday marked a major victory, although the RSF still retains control over parts of the western Darfur region.
