The Himachal Pradesh High Court has dismissed the bail plea of Desh Raj, the director of electrical at the Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL). Raj, implicated in the suicide case of the corporation's chief engineer Vimal Negi, faces serious charges of abetment to suicide.

Negi disappeared on March 10, with his remains found eight days later in Bilaspur. Following the tragic discovery, Negi's relatives staged a protest outside the HPPCL office in Shimla. The deceased engineer's wife alleges that her husband was subjected to harassment and inhumane work conditions by senior officials.

The investigation led by a Special Investigation Team is active, underscoring workplace malfeasance, including punitive workloads and financial tensions, driving Negi to mental distress. Meanwhile, Desh Raj has been suspended, and HPPCL's Managing Director has been transferred as the case unfolds.
