Major Heroin Bust at India-Myanmar Border: Arrests in Assam and Mizoram

In a significant development, three individuals from Assam have been apprehended after authorities seized heroin valued at Rs 1.13 crore near the India-Myanmar border in Mizoram's Champhai district. According to official statements, the successful operation followed actionable intelligence received by the Assam Rifles.
The Assam Rifles personnel strategically established a mobile check post at a border crossing in Zokhawthar village on March 24. The interception of a vehicle, with an Assam registration, revealed 12 packets of heroin weighing 151.7 grams, cleverly concealed in a pillow cover.
Following the seizure, the contraband, along with the vehicle used for transportation, was handed over to the state excise and narcotics department in Champhai for further legal proceedings. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region, noticeable from previous significant seizures and arrests.
