In a significant move to enhance public safety and economic stability, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu introduced the Himachal Pradesh Organised Crimes (Prevention and Control) Bill, 2025.
The new legislation aims to redefine organised crime, expanding its scope to encompass drug trafficking, cyber-terrorism, human organ trade and healthcare frauds. It also proposes strict penalties, including the possibility of life imprisonment or death penalty for the most heinous crimes.
The bill further empowers law enforcement by granting them greater authority to investigate and seize properties suspected to be linked with organised crime syndicates, marking a comprehensive effort to dismantle criminal networks in the region.
