The Haryana government has officially allowed its employees to create content on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, with a literary, artistic, or scientific focus, as confirmed by Cabinet Minister Krishan Kumar Bedi in the assembly.
Responding to Congress MLA Shishpal Keharwala's inquiry, Bedi emphasized that state employees can contribute to public knowledge and awareness by sharing content online during and beyond their official working hours.
Furthermore, employees can retain annual earnings up to Rs 8,000 from these activities. Should earnings exceed this amount, a third of the surplus must be deposited with the state treasury. Social media is increasingly used for disseminating government initiatives, Bedi noted.
