Himachal Pradesh High Court Rejects Bail Plea in Controversial Suicide Case

The Himachal Pradesh High Court denied bail for HPPCL Director (Electrical) Desh Raj, implicated in the alleged abetment to suicide of Chief Engineer Vimal Negi. The High Court of Himachal Pradesh has turned down the bail application of Desh Raj, Director (Electrical) at Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL). Raj stands accused of abetting the suicide of the corporation's Chief Engineer, Vimal Negi, who was found dead after going missing earlier this year.

Negi's death has sparked allegations from his family, with his wife contending that her husband's demise was a result of undue pressure and harassment by senior officials, despite Negi's unwell condition. The situation became tense when relatives protested with Negi's body outside HPPCL's Shimla office.

As the case unfolds, the prosecution highlights early investigative findings, including crucial evidence and CCTV footage, which suggest financial disputes contributed to Negi's deteriorating mental health. The legal proceedings continue as Desh Raj faces suspension and the Managing Director is transferred.
