A prostitution racket in central Mumbai was dismantled following an operation by the city's crime branch. A 16-year-old girl, along with four women, were rescued during the raid, which resulted in the arrest of two pimps, authorities revealed on Wednesday.
The operation took place in the Chembur (East) area on Tuesday. Responding to a tip-off that two individuals intended to bring women to a restaurant for illicit activities, police deployed a decoy customer with the assistance of an NGO to confirm the reports. The raid at Sadguru restaurant led to the capture of Harilal Bandu Chaudhary, aged 42, and Aftab Alam Ansari, aged 26.
The rescued individuals were all natives of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. A case has been registered at the RCF police station against the detained pimps under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act, and Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act (POCSO), as reported by police officials.
