PhD Scholar Alleges Rape Under Pretext of Marriage

A man has been accused of raping a PhD scholar under the guise of marriage in Jabalpur. The case has been transferred to the PGI police station, where an investigation is underway. The accused, Abhinav Srivastav, allegedly committed the act multiple times in 2023 at a hotel.

A PhD scholar has accused a man of raping her under the pretext of marriage at an engineering institute, according to police reports. The case, originally filed in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, has been transferred to the PGI police station.

Police sources disclosed that the alleged rapist, identified as Abhinav Srivastav, reportedly assaulted the woman multiple times in 2023. These incidents are said to have occurred in a hotel located in the PGI police station area.

The Station House Officer (SHO) at PGI police station confirmed that an initial investigation is underway and the arrest of the accused is imminent.
