Diplomatic Talks: Mitsotakis and Netanyahu Unite on East Mediterranean Power Initiatives
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are set to meet in Jerusalem. They will discuss various topics including the ongoing conflict in Gaza and a subsea power cable project. Greece emphasizes the importance of humanitarian aid and regional stability.

In a significant diplomatic engagement, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is scheduled to meet with his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, in Jerusalem this Sunday. The talks are anticipated to cover a wide range of topics, including the recent conflict in Gaza and collaborative energy projects in the region.
Greece, which condemned the October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas, calls for a ceasefire in Gaza. Prime Minister Mitsotakis emphasizes the urgent need for continuous and unhindered humanitarian aid to all parts of Gaza to prevent further regional instability. Greek hospitals have already extended medical support to children from the region.
The bilateral discussions will also address a vital energy initiative: the subsea power cable linking Europe to the East Mediterranean. The Greek power grid operator, IPTO, remains committed to the Great Sea Interconnector project, refuting claims of a delay over financial and geopolitical issues.
