Khalid Saifi's Battle for Bail

Khalid Saifi, founder of United Against Hate, seeks bail from the Delhi High Court, arguing there's no evidence of him committing or conspiring in terrorist acts during the February 2020 riots. Khalid Saifi, founder of United Against Hate, has petitioned the Delhi High Court for bail in connection to the February 2020 riots case. Saifi argues there is no evidence indicating his involvement in or conspiracy to commit a terrorist act.

During the court proceedings, his counsel contended that being at a protest site does not warrant invoking the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Saifi had previously been granted bail in one of three related cases and was discharged in another.

The prosecution's alleged selective approach was criticized, as those administering the contentious WhatsApp groups were not arrested. Saifi, alongside others, faces charges under UAPA and the Indian Penal Code for alleged involvement in the riots sparked by protests against the CAA and NRC.
