In a recent development in Beed, Maharashtra, two police officials were suspended following the dissemination of a controversial video. The footage depicted a local BJP worker, Satish Bhosale, receiving preferential treatment while in custody, igniting widespread criticism.
The Superintendent of Police, Navneet Kanwat, took decisive action by suspending Kailas Khatane and Vinod Surwase from the Chaklamba police station. Additionally, a show-cause notice was given to Sandip Patil, the station in-charge. Bhosale, associates with local BJP MLA Suresh Dhas, was apprehended earlier for allegedly assaulting a man with a cricket bat.
Bhosale, who has other criminal cases pending, was reportedly filmed while enjoying relaxed protocols in custody, raising questions about police conduct. The video appeared before his judicial custody commenced, drawing statements from officials regarding pending sanctions. The Forest Department also demolished Bhosale's illegal residence, adding to his legal challenges.
