The Delhi Government is set to orchestrate grand celebrations for the Hindu New Year, Chaitra Shukla Pratipada Nav Samvatsar, with a series of vibrant cultural and religious events. This year's festivities will feature the first-ever large-scale 'Falahar Party' during Navratri, echoing traditional Indian customs.
The celebrations kick off on March 30 at the Delhi Assembly, which will be illuminated in a display reminiscent of Diwali. Presided over by Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, the event will see Chief Minister Rekha Gupta as the chief guest, with the Minister of Art and Culture, Kapil Mishra, gracing the occasion. Renowned singer Kailash Kher and his band will perform, setting a musical tone for the evening.
As the festival coincides with the start of Navratri, the government will host multiple 'Falahar' events across the city, serving meals to observers. Special ceremonies and prayers will pay homage to Goddess Durga. Speaker Gupta emphasized the festival's significance, marking it as a symbol of renewed energy and cultural preservation, thus highlighting the profound economic and social importance of the occasion.
