The Rajasthan government is stepping up its fight against drug smuggling, as highlighted by Minister of State for Home, Jawahar Singh Bedham. In a recent assembly session, he detailed how Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma's leadership has spurred new initiatives.
Among these is the formation of an Anti-Narcotics Task Force, established on October 8, 2024, to enhance law enforcement capabilities. Additionally, nine outposts and a police station in Jaipur have been set up, supported by 255 newly sanctioned posts to combat drug-related crimes effectively.
Bedham criticized previous administrations for their lack of action, contrasting it with the current government's strides, like registering over 5,000 drug cases in 2024. Between January 3 and January 31, 2025, a focused crackdown led to 1,393 arrests, signaling the state's commitment to curbing drug abuse.
